The 2008 Creative Freelancer Conference is now over. The special events listed below were additions to the regular Conference program—look for more exciting opportunities next year!
Meet the Sponsors
WED, August 27 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
The companies supporting the Creative Freelancer Conference will be on hand during conference registration to share information about tools and resources that can make your life easier.
Opening Happy Hour
WED, August 27 | 5:45 PM – 7:00 PM
You, the speakers and a few hundred creative solopreneurs talking shop, exchanging business cards, venting about clients, making plans for dinner and most importantly, raising a glass—to solitary contentment. Hear, hear.
Breakfast Roundtables
THURS & FRI, August 28 & 29 | 8:00 AM – 8:50 AM
Here’s your chance to find out how other freelancers do things like estimating, cold calling, producing blogs and e-newsletters, identifying good prospects—or just juggling all of the above. Have a topic in mind already? Email us at creativefreelancerconference@fwpubs.com and we’ll make an attractive tabletop sign just for you. Breakfast, too!
BUSINESS REVIEW: Marketing Materials | Proposals | Portfolios
THUR, August 28 | 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Remember the critiques you endured in college? This one is altogether different. It’s not about the quality of your work, but the way you present it—and yourself—to potential clients.
And it’s not conducted by a professor who seems to derive pleasure from humiliating you. Rather, you’ll sit down with a creative-business expert who’ll quickly assess the content and presentation of your portfolio, proposal samples or marketing materials (choose one of the three) from a business perspective—and offer suggestions for strengthening your approach.
When you’re done, you can eavesdrop on other critiques (hovering is allowed and encouraged) or visit the cash bar and do some networking. It all takes place after dinner on day two of the conference.
SPACE IS LIMITED so please register early to guarantee a spot at the table (just be sure to check that session when you're completing the online registration form). We’ll email you with details about what and how many to bring.
